What is Champissage?
The techniques of Indian Head Massage are based on the ancient Ayurvedic system of healing. It has been used in India for a thousand years as a form of bonding and nurturing between family members; and was originally used by women who found it kept their long hair thick and luxurious.
Champissage is also a wonderfully relaxing therapy that relieves the stress and tension of modern day living. Anger, stress and tension often build up in the upper body—the back, shoulders, neck and head regions.
During a session these areas are gently, firmly and rhythmically massaged until the pressure begins to melt away.
At the physical level a treatment can alleviate muscle tension, increase oxygen supply to the cells and stimulate lymphatic drainage. At a spiritual level it focuses on balancing and clearing blockages in the chakra energy centres to release negative energy and promote a feeling of calm.
What can Champissage do for me?
The therapeutic affects of Champissage last long after the treatment is over. The short and long-term benefits are individual, varied and cumulative and include the following:

What should I expect in a session?
A session usually takes around 45 minutes. Please allow 15 minutes extra for the first session, as it is important to record you details and medical history. Champissage is perfectly safe but, as with all therapies, some contra indications do exist.
Unlike other massage therapies, there is no need to undress during the treatment. Spectacles, contact lenses and upper body jewellery should be removed. Essential oils and creams are used sparingly on the shoulders and neck region.
When you are seated comfortably, the treatment will commence. Always remember to drink plenty of water after a session to assist the body in removing toxins and impurities from the areas massaged.
You are invited to sit back and enjoy the deeply relaxing experience that is Champissage.
Shorter sessions can also be booked for specific groups such as , sporting, social, family or friends at your home or club rooms.
